The new system is based on the MC55 mobile computer and the RS507 ring scanner from Motorola. The MC55 runs the Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system and communicates in real time via WLAN with Ellos’ warehouse management system. The scanner is worn like a ring and wirelessly connected to the mobile computer via Bluetooth. The ring scanner provides unprecedented flexibility and speed of handling warehouse tasks.
The new mobile computing system with ring scanners enables warehouse operators to capture and communicate data in real time, ensuring that data in Ellos’ warehouse management system is always accurate. Additionally, warehouse operators can use the mobile computers to send stock inquiries to the host computer, which simplifies the work of finding items in Ellos’ busy warehouse. Another benefit is that inventory lists can be downloaded to the mobile computers, eliminating the need for pen and paper.
